An administrative immigration warrant, by itself, is not the same as a judicial warrant authorizing entry into a home without consent.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do not consent to entry.<\/strong> You may say: \u201cI do not give permission to enter.\u201d Do not physically obstruct the agents.<\/li>\n<li><strong>You may remain silent.<\/strong> Say: \u201cI wish to remain silent and speak with an attorney.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do not sign anything you do not understand.<\/strong> Ask for an interpreter and legal advice before signing.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Do not use false documents, lie, or run away.<\/strong> If someone is in immediate danger, call 911.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"lu-seccion-2\">\ud83d\udee1\ufe0f Basic rights during an immigration encounter<\/h2>\n<div style=\"display:grid;grid-template-columns:repeat(auto-fit,minmax(230px,1fr));gap:16px;margin:18px 0 28px\">\n<div style=\"background:#f4f8fb;padding:20px;border-radius:10px\"><strong>Remain silent<\/strong><br \/>You do not have to answer questions about your birthplace, citizenship, or how you entered the country. In some situations, you must identify yourself; rules vary by state.<\/div>\n<div style=\"background:#f4f8fb;padding:20px;border-radius:10px\"><strong>Do not sign without understanding<\/strong><br \/>Ask for time to speak with an authorized professional. In immigration proceedings, the government generally does not provide a free attorney.<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<h2 id=\"lu-seccion-3\">\ud83d\udd0e How to locate a detained person<\/h2>\n<p>ICE\u2019s Online Detainee Locator System allows you to search for a person in immigration custody. To conduct a search, have one of these combinations available:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An 8- or 9-digit A-Number and country of birth; or<\/li>\n<li>Full name, country of birth, and date of birth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If no result appears, check the spelling, wait several hours if the detention was recent, and contact the local ICE office or the facility where you believe the person is being held. Record the full name, A-Number, place of detention, medications, and family contacts.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"lu-seccion-4\">\u2696\ufe0f Immigration court and legal help<\/h2>\n<p>Printed notices from the court and the Board of Immigration Appeals are the official documents in your case. EOIR\u2019s automated system may be used for reference, but it does not replace the orders and notices you receive.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep copies of all notices and envelopes.<\/li>\n<li>Update your address with the appropriate agencies; changing it with one agency does not always update it with all agencies.<\/li>\n<li>Never miss a hearing without legal guidance.
